973 eht namuh: madness or genius?
Twas a dark and stormy night, I was in the living room doomscrolling on youtube pining for something dark, disturbing and/or bizarre when I stumbled upon a video on internet rabbit holes.
The title of this video has since eluded me, but what I do remember are three numbers and a two words.
973 Eht Namuh.

The site opens up with this, This being an old charm used by the ancient greeks as a way to dispel sickness the same way the word is being "dispelled"
But this is only the time of the iceberg. Eht namuh is a labyrinth of occult and religious references, numerology, and letter symbolism.
The intention of the site is not agreed upon. Some say it's an art project, others say it's mad ramblings with no real meaning, others say it's a complex puzzle/ARG and some even think it's a means to prove the existence of or commune with god or some type of cult recruitment.
No matter what people think of the site, it was something that stuck with me just for how Bizarre it was.
The site is huge and while I couldn't find an exact count, some say it ranges from 3000+ to even having over 9000 pages, For scale, homestuck which is five times longer than the james king bible, is around 8000 pages. meaning that Eht Namuh is POSSIBLY longer than homestuck.
the website is beyond convoluted, half the pages are cross shaped jumbles of numbers, letters, and religious references:
The website is almost like a mobius strip, wrapping around in on itself, you can progress through it only to end up back at the beginning more confused than when you started but after looking at things for long enough you ALMOST start to comprehend what the creator was intending, Almost.
A very common theme throughout the website is the number nine, specifically how the number nine can always repeat on itself. an example from the website itself:

To bizarre and surreal art like THIS

Since I had nothing better to do, I cracked my knuckles and got digging, Two monsters and three headache pills later I got my personal interpretation of the site.
It'd take an hour long article just for me to explain how i GOT to this conclusion, but in a nutshell the website seems to be trying to use that math to prove reincarnation, and that all religions, Christianity, Hindusim, etc all point to one higher power and that numbers like 9 7 and 3 are key to unlocking it
but of course this is all just me speculating, this could all be complete nutjobbery on my part and me trying to find a pattern or theme where one doesn't exist. there's an entire forum dedicated to making sense of this site and nobody has for sure 'solved' it, There is ONE forum user who claims to have solved it however, and I think their forum post should be experienced on it's own.
This one i would take with a grain of salt, anyone can say anything on the internet, I don't know much about the forums history. though I do know that the wayback machine's oldest record of the forum goes back to 2011 and Whiterabbit joined the forum in 2018 and was active up until 2024.
Myself? I lost interest in the page once I got to a page called the Evocation which was too much for me to wrap my head around and not something I was willing to commit time to truly solving. but still I was left feeling I had barely even scratched the surface of the surface.
so all that's left is to find out who is the man behind this madness?
Actually It's this guy:

This man is named David Denison. from what I could find out about him, He is a Surrealist artist who's name and picture comes up several times in the website, I wasn't able to dig up much on the man himself not even his history, everything I could find was in the annals of the website itself. and I can glean that he is an artist with a focus on numerology and occultism, though beyond that? nothing.
I did find a wordpress article however which could reveal a BIT more about the man through this quote
"The founder of this site is an artist David Denison, who was among one of the leading exponents of surrealism in Britain in the 70s and 80s, he believes that his art formed the stepping stones along the journey which inevitably culminated in the emergence of the website as his life’s work, therefore you will find much of his work is embodied within the fabric of the site. Also you will find that the presentation of what is an immense farm of hopefully thought provoking and mind-set altering information has a relatively artistic leaning, with dramatic use of colour as a vehicle of communication including background colour switches "
That would then suggest that, Eht Namuh is more than anything else a type of surreal and complex art project combining his surreal paintings and fascination with numbers into a single colossal labyrinth of confusion.
honestly I would suggest you check the website out for yourself, The site is beyond bizarre and for people who like to walk that line between madness and forbidden knowledge you will enjoy the site, even if you don't get it which let's face it I doubt MOST people do.
Weirdness aside many of David's paintings are genuinely fascinating, a few of my favorites are the following from the websites archive:

(man eating his own eyes 1972)
